What is sport psychology?

Sport Psychology has been around since the early 1900’s helping people perform at their best. Sport Psychology helps limit the number of ‘off’ days you have by ensuring you have the mental strength to compete at your best. Some of the concepts include: being present focused, finding and maximizing your confidence, understanding and controlling your self-talk, regulating your arousal levels, and finding motivation even when you just don’t feel like doing it. This is a small sample of topics addressed in the field of sport psychology.

What does “integrated mental performance and counseling” mean?

It means sessions are tailored to the individual and may include both mental performance training and counseling-based support, depending on what’s needed.

Some sessions focus on building skills like confidence, focus, and performing under pressure. Others may involve working through challenges such as anxiety, loss of confidence, or the emotional impact of injury, stress, or life transitions.

Rather than separating performance and mental health, this approach allows us to address both—so you’re not just performing better, but also handling the challenges that can impact performance and well-being.

How many sessions does it take?

It depends on your goals and what you’re looking to work on.

Some individuals benefit from just a few sessions to address a specific performance goal, while others choose to work together over a longer period to build consistency or work through more complex challenges.

As a general guideline, many athletes begin to see meaningful progress within the first 3–8 sessions, with continued work leading to more consistent and lasting change.

Can i sit-in with my child?

For the initial session, parent or guardian involvement is often helpful. After that, sessions are typically conducted one-on-one to allow the athlete space to speak openly and build trust.

At the same time, parents are an important part of the process. With the athlete’s consent, I can provide general updates and a high-level overview of the areas we are working on.

There are also times—such as on-field or performance-based sessions—where parent involvement may be appropriate and encouraged.

Do you accept FSA/HSA?

Yes—many clients are able to use FSA or HSA funds for services.

While I do not bill insurance directly, I can provide documentation (such as receipts or invoices) that may be submitted for reimbursement. Please check with your plan provider to determine eligibility.

Do you travel to be with athletes?

Yes. Travel is available for select athletes and teams for competitions, training events, and on-site support.

This type of work allows for more in-depth, real-time performance and mental health support before, during, and after competition.

Due to the level of involvement and limited availability, travel-based services are offered on a custom basis. Daily rates typically begin at $1,200, plus travel expenses.

When will I notice an improvement?

It depends on the individual.

Some people notice small shifts, such as improved awareness, better responses to mistakes, or reduced anxiety, within the first few sessions. More consistent, lasting change takes time and repetition.

There isn’t a quick fix for confidence, performance, or mental health. This work is a process, and we’ll figure out what works best for you and build from there.

Is working with a cognitive performance coach for everyone?

Most athletes and high performers can benefit from this work—whether the goal is to improve performance or to work through challenges that are getting in the way.

Some individuals come in looking to sharpen focus, build confidence, or perform more consistently. Others are dealing with anxiety, pressure, loss of confidence, or other mental health challenges that are impacting both performance and well-being.

This approach is designed to meet you where you are and provide the right level of support based on your needs.

do you offer appointments online?

Yes. Sessions are available virtually via Zoom, FaceTime, or similar platforms, allowing athletes and clients to work together from anywhere.

Mental performance services are available nationwide, while counseling services are provided to individuals located in Pennsylvania in accordance with state licensure requirements.

Is there an age requirement?

Services are available for individuals 15 and older.

For clients under 18, parent or guardian consent is required, and involvement in the process may be recommended depending on the situation.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel/reschedule up to 12 hours in advance with no penalty. If you need to cancel an appointment within the 12-hour window, I’ll give you one “free pass.” No shows and late cancellations will be charged a $60 fee.

Do you treat mental illness?

Yes—depending on the needs of the individual.

As an Integrated Sport & Performance Counselor, my work includes both mental performance training and support for common mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and the emotional impact of injury, pressure, and life transitions.

For individuals located in Pennsylvania, counseling services can be incorporated into sessions in accordance with state licensure requirements. For those outside of Pennsylvania, sessions focus on mental performance and non-clinical support.

If a higher level of care or specialized treatment is needed (e.g., eating disorders or more complex clinical concerns), I maintain a strong referral network and will coordinate care to ensure the highest level of support.
